This Thursday will mark three weeks since a professor and eight students were killed when a gunman opened fire on the campus of a community college in Roseburg, Oregon. To many this was seen as yet another example of the need for the U.S. to implement stricter gun control laws.
In a rare break from their traditional party platform, 26 red states have attempted to act on the issue, passing legislation that establishes a mandatory waiting period to purchase a firearm.
Now folks, there’s an old saying that goes something like ‘everyone makes mistakes’ (or at least that’s what I’ve been told, in my case I’m yet to find this to be true.) It seems, however, this is one of those times for Republicans.
In their rush to get comprehensive legislation passed, it seems they accidentally swapped out guns for abortions.
That’s right folks; while the GOP stands to fiercely oppose any sort of mandatory waiting period for firearms, they have no problem establishing the same type of waiting periods with regards to abortion.
If the fact that it’s harder for a woman to get an abortion than it is for someone to buy an AK-47 isn’t fucked up, I don’t know what is.
